Importing an NX File

PC-DMIS allows you to translate an NX (previously Unigraphics) file and import it into a PC-DMIS measurement routine. This type of import differs from interfacing directly with the NX CAD file described in the Direct CAD Interfaces documentation.

To import an NX file:

  1. Open the measurement routine in PC-DMIS into which you are going to import the NX file. Your LMS license or portlock must be programmed with the NX option.

  1. Select File | Import | NX to show an Import dialog box.

  2. Use the Import dialog box, and navigate to the folder that contains the file to import. Then select the file.

  3. Click the Import button. PC-DMIS imports the CAD file. A progress bar appears and indicates its progress.

If you have an NX model with global tolerances, PC-DMIS applies those tolerances to non-basic dimensions without tolerances during the model import.

If your model contains embedded GD&T callouts, PC-DMIS asks if you want to create Edit window commands from the GD&T callouts:

During the import process, you can cancel or stop the import.
