The Valisys software is a product from Tecnomatix Technologies, Inc. that frequently uses other vendor’s software to provide the actual machine control to operate CMMs. PC-DMIS can support this mode of operation.
Although frequently referred to as the Valisys interface, this interface should not be confused with an actual machine interface. The connection is between a Valisys host computer and a computer that runs PC-DMIS. All of the logic for supporting this mode is within the main PC-DMIS executable file. The various interface DLLs that the PC-DMIS executable file uses to communicate with CMMs do not contain any logic specific to the Valisys mode.
The connection between Valisys and PC-DMIS can be via either TCP/IP or serial (RS232) communications. This is independent of the method by which PC-DMIS communicates with a particular CMM. The following diagram illustrates the general structure and data flow:
