This registry entry specifies whether or not the dialog box shows the advanced options by default whenever it opens. The buttons >> (show advanced) and << (show basic) switch between the basic and advanced views of the dialog box.
These Settings Editor sections technically use different registry entries, but since they perform the same function, just on different dialog boxes, the documentation uses a single topic to discuss it.
