Inside PC-DMIS, when you're ready to save the file, you can click either File | Save or File | Save As to save the file.
If you choose File | Save, PC-DMIS saves the measurement routine to Teamcenter.
If you choose File | Save As, the Teamcenter Save As dialog box opens.
If you have not saved the measurement routine into the Teamcenter database yet, you can only use the Save New Item option to create a new database item that stores that measurement routine.
If you have already saved the measurement routine into the Teamcenter database, you can use either Save New Item to create a new database, or you can use Create New Revision to save the measurement routine as a new revision of an existing database item.
The Teamcenter Save As dialog box contains these controls:
Create New Revision - Creates a new revision of the measurement routine based on the value in the Revision box.
Save New Item - Creates a new database item in the Teamcenter database for the measurement routine.
Number - Defines the unique database item number to save to (even though it says number, you can use any alphanumeric characters here). The Assign button loads in a Teamcenter database number. If you're saving an entirely new database item, this is a new unique record number. If you're saving to a new revision of the same database item, this is the number for that database item.
Revision - Defines the revision letter to use for the save file. In Teamcenter, a revision is a letter character that follows the English alphabet, starting with A and ending with Z. The Assign button loads in the next revision letter expected by Teamcenter. This revision number is used in the saved file only if the option is enabled. For information on how to do this, see "Teamcenter Setup Options".
Name - The value in the Number box may not provide enough description for the measurement routine. In the Name value, you can type a more descriptive name for the database item. If you're saving to an existing database item, the dialog box displays the existing read-only name stored in the Teamcenter database.
Output Folder - Displays the folder structure under the Home folder of the Teamcenter database. You can use this to define where to save the measurement routine. If you don't select a specific folder, the software saves the routine to the Newstuff folder.
Example of Teamcenter automatic numbers and revisions
Suppose you are saving a measurement routine named 000027/C (the /C means the file was at revision C). If you click Assign for both Number and Revision, PC-DMIS names the file with the next available revision letter in the Teamcenter database. This means if the Teamcenter database already has revisions D and E, PC-DMIS names it as 000027/F.
