Probe Files
Standard SMR (Spherically Mounted Retroreflector)
PC-DMIS version 4.3 includes the standard 12.7MM (1/2”), 22.225MM (0.875”), and 38.1MM (1-1/2”) SMRs.
From the Quick Start (View | Other Windows | Quick Start), click the Calibrate Probe button , or from the main menu, select Insert | Hardware Definition | Probe to open the Probe Utilities dialog box and create your probe file.
Enter a name for your new probe in the Probe File list.
Click the No probe defined in the Probe Description area to populate the list.
Choose TRACKER from the Probe Description list.
Click the Empty Connection #1 item to display more list options.
Choose SMR_12.7MM (1/2”), SMR_22.225MM (0.875”), or SMR_38.1MM (1-1/2”) for the standard Faro SMR.
Click OK to save.
Pin Nest and Flat Nest Probes
In PC-DMIS version 4.3, the following nest configurations are available:
NEST_25MM - This tip is a flat nest with a distance of 25mm from the center of the ball to the bottom of the nest. You can use the 40.64mm (1.6”) outer diameter of this nest for measurement.
NEST_INCH - This tip is a flat nest with a distance of 25.4mm from the center of the ball to the bottom of the nest. You can use the 40.64mm (1.6”) outer diameter of this nest for measurement.
If you need to use the Faro Edge Sphere Mount 1.5”, select the NEST_INCH.
PIN_1/4_SMR_12.7MM - This tip is a 1/4" pin nest with a 1/2” SMR on it. There is a 12.7mm distance from the center of the ball to the flat of the pin nest.
To configure a Pin Nest or Flat Nest probe type:
From the Quick Start (View | Other Windows | Quick Start), click the Calibrate Probe button , or from the main menu, select Insert | Hardware Definition | Probe to open the Probe Utilities dialog box and create your probe file.
Enter a name for your new probe in the Probe File list.
Click the No probe defined in the Probe Description area to populate the list.
Choose TRACKER from the Probe Description list.
Click the Empty Connection #1 item to display more list options.
Choose one of the nests listed.
Click OK to save.
Measurement
The following table lists shortcut key strokes with the associated measurement functions:
Key Stroke | Function |
Ctrl + H | Takes a measurement hit. |
Alt + - | The Alt key plus the minus key to erase a measurement hit. |
End | Completes a measurement routine. |
