To test the installation of the MV_Util driver and utility, perform these steps:
Clear the stage of any objects. The Micro-Vu machine's Z travel allows them to move until the ring light almost touches the stage glass.
Run the Mv_Util.exe application.
Select the hardware test components (stage, zoom, ring lights, and other components).
Select the number of iterations to run.
Select the XYZ move speed.
Select Go. The hardware components exercise, and the status displays in the window.
Verify the hardware component's behavior:
Stage - Homes the stage if not already homed since powered on. It moves the stage back and forth between XYZ 50, 50, 40 mm and 100, 100, 50 mm. The moves may be longer or shorter if the scale resolution is incorrect. The Status window displays the stage size (in scale counts) and the scale resolution setting, which corresponds to different stage sizes. You can set the scale resolution in the mv_config.cfg file.
Zoom - Moves to the center of the zoom range, moves +5000 from the center of the zoom range, and then moves -5000 from the center of the zoom range.
Top/Bottom Light - Each light goes from off to 100% in steps and then back off.
Ring Light - Each element in the ring light turns on in sequence. The sequence starts with the inside ring and spirals out. All elements then go from off to 100% to off in steps. To observe the ring light, look at the reflection of the light in the stage glass. You may also want to exercise the ring light separate from the stage so that you can move the Z up with the joystick for easier observation.
