The MP detected an error during data transmission from the host computer. If the host-to-MP communication link is RS-232, the possible errors are:
Overrun error
Parity error
Framing error
The overflow of the 256-byte input buffer
The most probable causes of the first three errors are incompatible baud rate, character length, parity selection, and checking, or the number of stop bits between the MP and the host.
What you should do:
To clear the error, power the MP down.
On an MP-30, make sure the RS-232 switch settings on the MP control board and quad serial board are correct.
On an SMP-400, make sure that the host RS-232 settings agree with the SMP-400 internal switch settings.
Power the MP back up.
If the error reoccurs, contact your Giddings & Lewis service representative.
