PC-DMIS does one of the following disk stylus calibrations based on this setting:
When this registry entry is set to 1, PC-DMIS takes four hits on top of the sphere, using a circular pattern on the bottom of the disk stylus and calculates a plane from it. Measuring a plane helps the software ensure it performs the proper orientation of the hits for calibrating the face to reflect the actual plane of the disk. This is the default for the traditional calibration method using discrete hits.
When this registry entry is set to 0, PC-DMIS does not attempt to measure a plane on the bottom of the disk's face. Instead, it uses the design orientation of the disk. This is the default for the Renishaw scan-based calibration.

Entry Type: Whole number that specifies TRUE (1) or FALSE (0). The default value is TRUE (1).
In PC-DMIS 2012 MR1 and higher, the ProbeQualAnalogDiskUsePlaneOnBottom registry entry provides the initial defaults for new probes. You can then define specific settings for individual probes in the Edit Probe Component dialog box. PC-DMIS displays this dialog box when you double-click a component in the Probe description area of the Probe Utilities dialog box (Insert | Hardware Definition | Probe).
