The Freeform Plane module has been updated and enhanced as the Adaptive Free Form Plane Scan strategy. Please consider using the Adaptive Free Form Plane Scan strategy instead of the Freeform Plane module to update your measurement routine.
The Freeform Plane module's help topics are provided here for backward compatibility. For information about the Adaptive Free Form Plane Scan strategy, see "Working with Measurement Strategies" in the PC-DMIS CMM documentation.
Use the Perimeter Paths tab to generate the scan path points from the CAD and add them to the Points List tab.
To add scan points, do the following:
Select the Perimeter Paths tab:
Freeform Plane Dialog dialog box - Perimeter Paths tab
Click three points on the CAD to define the start point, direction point, and end point.
Complete the parameters on the Perimeter Paths tab.
To display the parameters for
a specific area, click the
arrow to the left of the
area's heading. To hide the parameters, click the
arrow.

Description |
Perimeter Controls area |
Use the parameters in this area to control perimeter point generation. Boundary Type list - Select the boundary type on the selected surface that should be considered in the path calculation:
CAD Tolerance box - Enter the tolerance used by the point locating algorithm. Increment box - Enter the minimum distance between adjacent points. Offset box - Enter the curved offset distance from the boundaries. |
Refinement area |
Use the parameters in this area to vary the point density of the path based on the curvature of the path. Corner Tolerance box - The path regions with curvatures less than the value you enter are converted into arc-segments. Point Spacing box - Enter the maximum distance between adjacent points for linear portions of the path. Use Refinement list - Specify whether to apply the refinement when you generate the path: True or False. |
| Generate button | Click this button to display the points on the Points List tab. |
Add Path button |
Click this button to add the points to the Points List tab. The parameters on the Perimeter Path tab change to the distance from the CAD edge (the offset) and the point density. |
