To Dimension a Feature Using the SIZE Option

  1. Select Insert | Dimension | Size to show the Size dialog box.

  2. From the Feature List box, select the feature or features to dimension. For information, see "Input Features".

  3. From the Options area, choose your options:

    1. From the Standard list, select the standard to use to calculate the size.

    2. If you use the ISO 14405-1 standard, from the Specification Mode list, select the command mode. For information, see "Command Modes". The print requirement determines the selection to use.

    3. If you use the ASME Y14.5 standard, a Local Size options list appears where Specification Mode is. Choose the type of local size, either Opposed Points or Circular elements (default).

    4. Set the Units and Report and Statistics as needed. For information on these options, see the "Common Dimension Dialog Box Options" topic in the "Using Legacy Dimensions" chapter.

The Editor area adjusts to fit the mode requirements that you choose from the Standard and Specification lists. This means any existing changes you made to the dialog box are lost when you select a new specification mode. Click to see Examples of this.

  1. In the Editor area, define the tolerance:

    1. Select the region you want to edit and type in the value.

    2. To add an upper specification operator, click on the upper tolerance value. From the Lower or Both Limit Modifiers area, you can then click the modifier buttons to add modifiers into the upper specification operator.

    3. To add a lower specification operator, click on the lower tolerance value. From the Lower or Both Limit Modifiers area, you can then click the modifier buttons to add modifiers into the lower specification operator. When there's only one specification operator, put the modifiers in the lower specification operator.

    4. To remove a modifier, select the button again to clear the highlight.
