PC-DMIS has a flag in the basic hit now that stores whether the probe has a shank vector. If it does not, then all three axes are displayed rather than just one. This value is also serialized because when a measurement routine is read in, global_active_probe is not valid and the flag using that mechanism cannot be checked or set.
