When you calibrate the contact probe offset with the same tool that you used to calibrate your Vision probe, the calibration establishes a common offset frame of reference.
To calibrate the contact probe offset, follow these steps:
Select the Insert | Hardware Definition | Probe menu item.
In the Probe Utilities dialog box, define the contact probe and tip.
Select Measure to open the Measure Probe dialog box.
Specify the following values in the Measure Probe dialog box:
Motion: Man+DCC
Type of Operation: Calibrate Tips
Calibration Mode: User Defined
Start Angle: 0
End Angle: 359
List of Available Tools: 20mm Ring (Select the same tool that you used to determine the Vision probe offset.)
Select Measure when asked if the tool has moved, click No this time. This tells PC-DMIS that it does know the actual tool location on the stage.
Click OK on the tip reminder message box.
A message box prompts you to take one hit on the tool face below or in the –Y direction from the bore center. Click OK and then take the contact point. The calibration routine then does a coarse bore measurement, a face plane measurement, a more precise bore measurement, and then the Z offset point measurements.
Now both probes have measured the tool and have offset values based on the same tool position data.
