This important information may help you to create an Excel Form Report:
To use the Excel Form Report command, you do not need to install Microsoft Excel.
On the Data tab, ensure that you select the dimensions you need to report in the Excel Form Report.
PC-DMIS does not report the dimensions on the Excel Form Report if they are not marked during execution.
You can use the Counter field to place a dimension number in a row or column.
You can use the PCD ID field to give a unique identification of each dimension in a measurement routine. You can use the PCD ID field in the Dimension group to associate the field in the template to identify the dimensions in the Excel Form Report.
You can use the Requirement field in the Dimension group to indicate the dimension's requirement. The requirement is a combination of the nominal value and upper tolerance or lower tolerance. You can use the Requirement field to display the control frame for Feature Control Frames (FCFs) and size dimensions in the Excel Form Report. To do this, you need to associate the Requirement field in the template and mark the Use control frame for requirement of FCF and Size dimensions check box in the Report Settings dialog box.
PC-DMIS provides a default custom field named "Designator". You can use the designator in the Excel Form Report to identify a dimension as major, minor, or critical.
You must associate the fields in the template only once. The .layout.xml file saves the fields' associations. The next time you open the template from any measurement routine, you can see the same association. Cells that turn red indicate that you have used tracefields in your association of header fields in a template, but those tracefields do not exist in another measurement routine.
You can create multiple Excel Form Report commands in a single measurement routine. Each command in the measurement routine generates a separate Excel Form Report. You need to ensure that each command generates a report with a different file name. If multiple commands have the same file name, the command overwrites the file generated by another command.
You can use a variable in the Edit window to define the Report folder location. Create a variable in the Edit window, assign the variable to the folder where you want to store the generated report file, and replace the Report folder name in the Excel Report command with the variable, like this:
ASSIGN/V1="C:\Temp"
EXCEL_FORM1=EXCELFORMREPORT/TEMPLATE=ABC, TYPE=XLSX
RESULT FOLDER/V1
You can send your measurement routine to another user to generate an Excel Form Report with custom fields. To do this, you need to send the other user the measurement routine, template, .layout.xml, and CustomFieldsSettings.xml files.
An Excel Form Report supports charts like line and scatter charts in a template file. You can define these types of charts in the template. Once the Excel form fills up with the generated data, PC-DMIS displays the charts. You can create a line chart to show the values from a multiple-run Excel form.
You can use Excel Form Report with subroutines. You can place the Excel Form Report command in a subroutine or in the routine that calls a subroutine. PC-DMIS reports all the executed dimensions before the command in a subroutine or in the routine that calls a subroutine.
The Excel Form Report supports tracefields from subroutines. If you need to put the same tracefields in multiple measurement routines, you can create a subroutine with those tracefields. The Excel Form Report adds the values of these tracefields during execution. When you create an Excel Form Report, you can see the tracefield names in the user interface only after the software completes the execution of the subroutine that contains tracefields.
The Excel Form Report displays angle values in Decimal degrees (DD) or in Deg/Min/Sec (Degrees Minutes Seconds—or DMS) units. You can define how PC-DMIS displays the units for angles in the Display angle degrees area on the Dimensions tab of the Setup Options dialog box (Edit | Preferences | Setup).
