Adding Feature Prefix and Suffix

In Summary mode, you can use PC-DMIS's standard menu options or a special shortcut menu to add a prefix and suffix to one or more feature IDs in the measurement routine. When you add a prefix or suffix, you can also add an Index number.

This dialog box allows you to:

• Add a prefix to one or more feature IDs in a measurement routine

• Add a suffix to one or more feature IDs in a measurement routine

• Add an index number to one or more feature IDs in a measurement routine

Prefix - This option enables you to define a prefix for one or more feature IDs.

Suffix - This option enables you to define a suffix for one or more feature IDs.

PC-DMIS adds an index placeholder (index) at the end of the first prefix or suffix that you type. Once the index placeholder is inserted, you can cut and paste it wherever you want in the prefix or suffix box. You can only have one index placeholder.

Starting Index - This option enables you to define a starting index value for one or more feature IDs that you select. This must be a number. PC-DMIS appends and increments this index value onto each selected feature's feature ID. So, suppose you select CIR1, CIR2, and CIR3 and you define a Suffix of _ and an Starting Index of 3. PC-DMIS modifies the feature IDs to be CIR1_3, CIR2_4, CIR3_5.

Preview - This box shows you a preview with the added prefix, suffix, and index value for the selected feature, or for the first selected feature if you selected multiple features.

To add a prefix and suffix to one or more feature IDs in the measurement routine, follow these steps:

1. To access the shortcut menu, select a feature ID in the list and then right-click it. You can also select multiple feature IDs and then right-click any of them to open the shortcut menu.

2. From the shortcut menu, select Add Feature Prefix/Suffix to open the Add Feature Prefix/Suffix dialog box.

3. From the Add Feature Prefix/Suffix dialog box, turn on and then type prefix, suffix, and starting index number in the Prefix, Suffix, and Starting Index boxes respectively.

4. Click OK.

PC-DMIS replaces all the selected IDs with the new IDs in the Edit window.
