The Report Settings dialog box lets you set the folder, name, format, and other properties of the report file. To access this dialog box, from the Excel Form Report dialog box (Insert | Report Command | Excel Form Report), click Report Settings.

Report Settings dialog box

Report File - This area sets the report file's folder, file name, and format.

Folder - This option defines where to save the report file. PC-DMIS automatically creates a Results folder in this default location:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Hexagon\PC-DMIS\2022.1\ExcelFormReport\Results

Name - This option determines a file name based on your selections from a series of lists. The list provides a tracefield value to create a name rule. You must select options from a series of lists that supports the desired report mode.

Click the icon to display a window that provides information about different report modes and the file name requirements for each of them.

Type - This option allows you to select the export format for the file:

Excel Workbook (*.xlsx | *.xlsm) - This option generates the report in a Microsoft Excel .xlsx or .xlsm format based on the selected template type.

PC-DMIS provides default templates for both formats.

CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv) - This option generates the report's data as comma-separated values (CSV).

Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt) - This option generates the report in a text (.txt) format.

Show Report - When you select this check box, the generated Excel Form Report opens in the Internal Excel Viewer that comes with PC-DMIS.

You can use Microsoft Excel or the default Excel viewer installed on your computer to open the Excel Form Report.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. To open the Run window, press Windows + R.

  2. In the Open box, type "regedit" and press Enter to open the Registry Editor dialog box.

  3. From the left pane, navigate to this folder:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENTUSER\Software\Hexagon\PC-DMIS\2022.1\ExcelFormReport

  1. From the right pane, double-click on the ShowReportUsingInternalExcelViewer key to open the Edit String dialog box.

  2. In the Value data box, type False.

  3. Click OK and then close the Registry Editor dialog box.

General - This area sets the settings for dimensions and axes.

Use control frame for requirement of FCF and Size dimensions - This check box determines whether to use Control Frame symbols as the Requirement field for FCF and size dimensions. PC-DMIS selects this check box by default.

This check box is only available if you select the Excel Workbook (*.xlsx | *.xlsm) type.

Use true position tolerances for axes - This check box determines whether to divide the true position tolerance in half and set the result as the upper tolerance and lower tolerance for its axes. If you clear this check box, the tolerance for the axes is zero.
