When you first start PC-DMIS after you install it, you should run it with administrator privileges. This ensures that the software properly creates the settings entries related to the active controllers in the Machine Options dialog box (Edit | Preferences | Machine Interface Setup):

On the Machine Options dialog box, modify the Active controllers area for your sensor type. Use the image above as well as the instructions below:
For a laser probe (CWS or TTL), from the Laser probe list, select CMMI. Otherwise, select None.
For a touch probe, from the Touch probe list, select CMMI. Otherwise, select None.
