Obtaining a Proto Trace File

To diagnose interface or machine problems, accompany all Problem Report files with the associated PC-DMIS debug file and the PROTO TRACE file.

To allow tracing, do the following:

  1. Turn off PC-DMIS (Proto also stops).

  2. Open a File Explorer window, and navigate to C:\Programme\CEJPROTO.

  3. Locate the file CEJCOMM.INI, and open it in a text editor (such as Notepad).

  4. Locate the DEBUG section, and make sure the following properties are set to these values:

ACTIVATE_DEBUG = 1

TRACE = 1

TRACECMM = 1

TRACETIME = 1

TRACEPNTS = 0

TRACEINTR = 0

TRACEP3 = 0

TRACEOFFS = 0

When asked to produce a "full trace file", change the TRACEP3 setting to TRACEP3 = 1.

  1. Start up PC-DMIS again, until the problem appears.

  2. Turn off PC-DMIS.

  3. In the same folder as above, you will find one (or more) files with the name TRAChhmm.TXT. The "hhmm" part of the file name is the time you started PC-DMIS.

With this trace file, you are able to see the commands that were sent to the CMM controller and its responses. This file helps to determine whether the problem is from PC-DMIS or the CMM.
