This entry allows you to define the default value for the Height option that is used when an Auto feature is created. The Height value determines the height of the external circular feature being measured.
Entry Name: DccHeight
Entry Type: Real number that specifies the height in mm. The default value is 0.
Circle, Square Slot, Round Slot, or Ellipse:
The Height box is used for these features only if the feature is an external (or stud) feature. It allows for an extra hit on the top (and in the center) of the stud. If this value is anything but 0, PC-DMIS takes an extra hit in the center of the stud. It then computes the height of the stud.
Cylinder or Cone:
When TYPE = HOLE,
the Height box defines the nominal length
of the feature. If you enter a Height value
but do not define a depth, PC-DMIS equally divides the Height
value by the number of rows indicated in the # Rows box. If a depth
value is defined, the actual measured feature becomes the height minus
the depth value.
For cylinders, the probe then works its way down the cylinder in increments until it reaches the indicated height value.
For cones, the probe then starts at the bottom of the cone using the defined height value (location minus length) and works its way up the length of the cone.
When TYPE = STUD, and the Initial and Perm boxes contain non-zero values, this option allows for an extra hit on the top of the stud in the center. If this value is anything but 0, PC-DMIS takes an extra hit in the center of the stud. It then computes the height of the stud.
