Troubleshooting Sleep Mode Issues when Running HM Remote Management Daemon

A known issue with the CLM software is that the computer cannot be placed into sleep mode when the HM Remote Management Daemon x64 service is running.

Cause

The HM Remote Management Daemon is a tool for remote administration of licenses on a computer. Since the service listens for incoming connections on the network, the system cannot be placed into sleep mode as it normally would (such as for laptops or tablets).

Solution

  1. Edit the service's properties in the Services control panel, and set the service Startup Type to Manual.

  2. Stop the service.

  3. If you need to remotely administer licenses on that computer, you must restart the service. An administrator can do this remotely through the Microsoft Management Console (mmc.exe) via the Services Snap-in. Alternatively, you can use Remote Desktop, or another remote administration tool to log on the computer and restart the service.
