Importing CATIA Files

(The information in this topic contains file-specific information for the "General Import Procedure" covered in the "Importing CAD Data" topic.)

PC-DMIS allows you to translate various CATIA file types and import the file type into a PC-DMIS measurement routine. This type of import differs from interfacing directly with the CATIA CAD file. For information on directly interfacing with CAD models, see the "Direct CAD Interface" documentation.

You can choose to import CATIA 4 Files, CATIA 5 Files, and CATIA 6 Files.

CATIA v5 Assemblies

CATIA v5 assemblies can contain embedded CATIA v4 model files. When you use the CATIA v5 DCI or DCT to import a CATIA v5 assembly, PC-DMIS uses the CATIA v4 DCT to translate any embedded CATIA v4 model files. As such, your LMS license or portlock must be programmed for the CATIA v4 DCT. Otherwise, the embedded CATIA v4 model files are not translated. For information on assemblies, see "Working with Assemblies of Parts" in the "Editing the CAD Display" chapter.

CATIA v5 Model Views

PC-DMIS supports CATIA v5 CAD model views. For more information, see "Working with CAD Model Views".
