Constructing a Projected Sphere

You can construct a sphere by projecting any feature into the current workplane. PC-DMIS projects the point where the plane intersects the point. If you only have one input feature, it projects the point to the workplane. You should input the desired diameter when projecting a feature into the workplane; otherwise, PC-DMIS uses the probes' diameter.

To construct a projected sphere:

  1. Open the Construct Sphere dialog box (Insert | Feature | Constructed | Sphere).

  2. From the Method list, select the Projection option.

  3. From the Feature list, select either one or two features. The first feature can be of any type. The second feature must be a plane.

  4. Select the In or Out option. For details, see the "In / Out Sphere" topic in this documentation.

  5. If you want to change the feature theoretical values, select the Feature theoreticals check box and type in the values. For details, see the "Specifying Feature Theoreticals" topic in the PC-DMIS Core documentation.

  6. Click the Create button.
