Error Compensation File (COMP.DAT)

The COMP.DAT in XENIX is binary. If you copy it into PC-DMIS, the file does not work.

From the AVAIL Software Package

  1. Boot the computer under XENIX or UNIX.

  2. Log on as "root", and type "hobbit" as the password.

  3. Copy the AVAIL error compensation file to the PC-DMIS subdirectory on the DOS partition (that is, PCDMISW). The file is in one of two places: /usr/service or /usr/avail/trans/report:

doscp /usr/service/comp.asc c:/pcdmisw

or

doscp /usr/avail/trans/report/comp.asc c:/pcdmisw

  1. Issue a shutdown or reboot command to UNIX:

shutdown -y -g0

or

reboot

  1. Reboot the computer in DOS.

  2. Change the directory to where PC-DMIS is installed (for example, PCDMISW).

CD \PCDMISW

  1. Rename the COMP.ASC file to COMP.DAT:

REN COMP.ASC COMP.DAT

From the MM4 Software Package

  1. Boot the computer under XENIX or UNIX.

  2. Login as "root" and give "hobbit" as the password.

  3. Log in and change the directory to /u/mm4/sys_data/files:

cd /u/mm4/sys_data/files

  1. Copy the MM4 error compensation file to the PC-DMIS subdirectory on the DOS partition (that is, PCDMISW).

doscp comp.asc c:/pcdmisw

  1. Issue a shutdown or reboot command to UNIX:

shutdown -y -g0

or

reboot

  1. Reboot the computer in DOS.

  2. Change the directory to where PC-DMIS is installed (for example, PCDMISW).

CD \PCDMISW

  1. Rename the COMP.ASC file to COMP.DAT:

REN COMP.ASC COMP.DAT

From the MM3 Software Package

  1. Boot the computer under DOS.

  2. Change the directory to \MM3\SERVICE:

CD \MM3\SERVICE

copy comp.asc \pcdmisw

  1. Change the directory to where PC-DMIS is installed (for example, PCDMISW).

CD \PCDMISW

  1. Rename the COMP.ASC file to COMP.DAT:

REN COMP.ASC COMP.DAT
