Interface DLL - zeiss.dll

The design of the interface was done to support the IP-based Zeiss controllers. The interface allows modifications to a configuration file to accommodate the differences between the Zeiss controllers. This eliminates the need to create a new interface DLL for new controller. The configuration file now contains most of the configuration options for the controller. This allows for new WAI utilities to communicate with the machine without having to run PC-DMIS.

This interface supports both TCP and UDP machines. Supported probes include the standard Zeiss probe, RDS, DSE, and Vast. Support continues for the old jog boxes, both the small version with the numeric pad, as well as the version with the larger keypad. Support for the newer laptop jog boxes is available with an additional IP-based utility that allows the use of basic function buttons.

Since most of the controller-specific options moved into the configuration file, the Settings Editor displays fewer options than the GPIB interface DLL. This chapter of the MIIM provides an explanation of the options in the configuration file as well as how to set them.
