Using the Importing Dialog Box

The Importing dialog box allows you to create, edit, add, or delete rule sets that you can use to evaluate your ASCII file. For information on how to access this dialog box, see "Importing an ASCII File".

The selected rule set determines which information PC-DMIS imports into your measurement routine. Use the following options to select and apply rules for parsing your ASCII file.

Create - This option opens Step 1 of the Rule Set Wizard. See "Rule Set Wizard - Step 1: Excluding Data". PC-DMIS displays the values of the selected Rule Set, but if you do not select a Rule Set, PC-DMIS does not display any values.

Edit - This option allows you to edit the rule set selected from the Rule Set List.

Add - This option opens an Open dialog box that allow you to navigate to and select a preexisting rule set. PC-DMIS copies the rule set file into the designated rule file directory and then displays a new entry in the list box

Delete - This option removes the selected rule set from the Rule Set List.

Set as default - This option sets the highlighted rule set in the Rule Set List as the default. PC-DMIS then uses this rule set until you select another rule set later. If you do not select a new rule set, PC-DMIS sets the last used rule set as the default and highlights it in the list box. The next time that you import an ASCII file, PC-DMIS highlights the default rule set.

Import to Measurement Routine - PC-DMIS imports the opened ASCII file into the current measurement routine:

Cancel - Select this option to abort the ASCII Import process

PC-DMIS stores all rule set files in the same directory designated by the GP. The directory is named "AscImportRules", where the rule set files are named "*.ascimportrule".
