Edge Angle

Edge Angle is the angle the edge of the blade is against a certain axis.

The angle convention in PC-DMIS Blade is positive CW (looking in the Z minus direction).

Description of the Default Method

  1. A radius is created by swinging and arc of radius equal to LE_ANGOFFSET (first value) with a center on the nose point.

  2. A 2nd radius is created by swinging and arc of radius equal to LE_ANGOFFSET (second value) with a center on the nose point.

  3. The MCL is intersected with arc 1 creating point 1. The MCL is intersected with arc 2 creating point 2.

  4. A straight line is drawn through points 1 and 2.

  5. The angle of that line is the leading edge angle.

  6. The same steps apply for the trailing edge angle, using the tail point as the arc centers.

Another distinct method is to use the LECONT best fit angle. For more information, see "Calculations and Methods".
