uEye Camera

For additional details, refer to factory setup documentation and the uEye Manual installed by the uEye software installer.

To install the uEye camera software and configure the hardware:

  1. Install the IDS uEye camera software.

  2. Confirm the network adaptor used for the uEye camera(s) has a status of working properly in the Device Manager.

  3. Confirm the camera(s) Ethernet cables are connected to the PC and the camera(s) have power.

  4. Run the IDS Camera Manager.

  5. Select the ETH Network Service.

  6. Select the Ethernet network device used for the camera(s)

  7. Specify an IP address that will not interfere with other networks or network devices. For example, if the local LAN uses 192.168.1.x or the motion controller uses 100.0.0.x, you cannot use these for the camera.

  8. Select Automatic ETH configuration.

  9. Verify the Camera List shows the camera(s) status Free: Yes and Avail: Yes.

  10. Set the camera ID for each camera by selecting the camera in the Camera list and then selecting Camera Information. The camera IDs should start with 1 and be sequential. On a system with two cameras, one ID must be 1 and one ID must be 2.

  11. Run uEye Cockpit to test the camera. For details, see the topic "IDS uEye Camera".

  12. Copy the factory specified camera parameter file to the PC-DMIS directory. The file name is usually the camera model number plus "_1.ini". The "1" in the name denotes the number of cameras. If there is a need to create a custom configuration file, configure the camera as desired in UEye Cockpit and save the parameters to a file (File | Save Parameters | File). For a single 6220 camera, name the file 6220_1.ini. Note you can use any filename, but the name must end in "_n" where "n" is the total number of cameras on the system. (ex: 6220_default_2.ini, 6220_bright_1.ini).

  13. Run PC-DMIS as administrator.

  14. Close PC-DMIS.

  15. Configure the PC-DMIS frame grabber / camera settings. See "Interface-Specific Options" and "Latching" sections below for more details.

  16. Run PC-DMIS. Confirm the live image view is working.
