Defining Probe Changers

Before you can begin to use your probe changer, you must select it in PC-DMIS, define its port locations, and set the options that you can use on it. To perform these tasks, select Edit | Preferences | Probe Changer. The Probe Changer dialog box opens:

Initially, the Probe Changer dialog box displays only the Type tab. Some or all of the following tabs become available after you select your probe changer and click Apply:

Type - Use this tab to select and define the type of probe changer for your system.

Comm - Use this tab to define the serial port to use with the probe changer.

Calibrate - Use this tab to select the active tip to calibrate.

Mount Point - Use this tab to change the probe head wrist angle values and define a safe move location for the CMM to move to after each measurement cycle.

Ports - Use this tab to define the probe or stylus configuration for existing ports in the probe changer rack.

PC-DMIS supports various probe changer hardware, and terms are used by their respective manufacturers. "Slot", "port", and "garage" are used interchangeably. They all mean the location that holds the probe configuration.
