You must connect the computer running PC-DMIS to the computer running the GBS smartVIS3D software via an Ethernet cable. You need to configure both computers so that the IP addresses use the same network segment. This is to allow the software on the GBS computer to communicate with PC-DMIS. The Surface Topography sensor's TCP/IP address is "192.168.0.12".
You can use the configuration file "SVSettings.xml" to set some parameters for the Surface Topography sensor. The configuration file is on the computer running the GBS smartVIS3D software.
In the configuration file, you must set the "FrameGrabber_Type" setting to "501" if you only want to see the Surface Topography sensor in the PC-DMIS Vision Live View window. If you want to see both the Surface Topography sensor and the normal cameras (such as IDS) in the Live View window, you must set the "FrameGrabber_Type" setting to "203". This is required when the ST_Probe is the active probe. If these options are not set correctly, you will only see the normal camera.
When setting up a system for the Surface Topography sensor, you must add trust to ensure the fire wall does not block any communications with the networked computers and that the Smartserver.exe application can connect successfully.
Notes
PC-DMIS version 2022.2 was tested using the GBS SDK build 2.5.46.
You must configure the ST_Probe and the Framegrabber with MSI for testing and MoveTo purposes.
If you do not configure the ST_Probe or the Framegrabber, PC-DMIS disables the Topography Strategy and Illumination tab options on the Probe Toolbox.
