Activating ClearanceCube Motion

To activate ClearanceCube, select Operation | Graphic Display Window | ClearanceCube, or from the ClearanceCube toolbar, click the Clearance Cube Definition icon . This opens the ClearanceCube Definition dialog box.

This dialog box contains these options:

• Offset value - Determines the distance away from the CAD model on all six sides where PC-DMIS draws the ClearanceCube. It is saved in the current measurement routine. The cyan-colored rectangle indicates the surface that PC-DMIS assumes the part is resting on. PC-DMIS uses the same units of measurement as the measurement routine.

This box shows "N/A" if the offset distance is not the same for all faces. You can define the offset distance for each face in the Advanced dialog box.

• Activate ClearanceCube motion - Mark this check box to activate ClearanceCube for the current measurement routine. This also opens the ClearanceCube Settings window below the Graphic Display window.

When you activate ClearanceCube, PC-DMIS disables any Clearance Plane commands in the current measurement routine. You can only use Clearance Plane or ClearanceCube in a measurement routine.

• Show ClearanceCube - Mark this check box or click the Show ClearanceCube icon from the ClearanceCube toolbar to show or hide ClearanceCube in the Graphic Display window.

• Resize ClearanceCube - To resize ClearanceCube in the Graphic Display window, select this check box or click the Resize ClearanceCube icon from the ClearanceCube toolbar. This places the ClearanceCube in Resize mode. When in Resize mode, the ClearanceCube is visible in the Graphic Display window. You can click and drag a face of the ClearanceCube to change the offset distance for the corresponding axis. A reddish highlight indicates the face to drag.

• Advanced - This button expands the dialog box from a single-tab to a multi-tabbed dialog box. The tabs on the advanced dialog box include: Size and Constraints. This button then changes to read Simple. Click the button again to display the simple dialog box.

You can use this area to:

• Customize the ClearanceCube offset along each axis

• Define a ClearanceCube for a measurement routine that does not use a CAD model

• Set the constraints for the ClearanceCube
