REFERENCE Method

This method simulates a caliper measurement. Two extreme points on the concave side are found that would sit on a flat line. The chord length is reported as the projected distance of the two points on the leading and trailing edges that are extreme with respect to the line defined by the two concave side points.

CALIPER is also a method for CHDANG; in this case, the angle of the line is determined by the two concave side points (the "chord line" in some definitions).
