Thermal Expansion Origin Command

The default setting for the origin of the thermal expansion is the machine zero point. In some cases, you may want to set the origin at the location on the part. For example, you may want to set the origin when the part is clamped down on the center location and the part will not expand at that point.

To set the origin of the thermal expansion:

  1. Select Insert | Parameter Change | Thermal Expansion Origin. The Thermal Expansion Origin dialog box appears.

  2. Enter the X, Y, and Z values in the current coordinate system.

  3. To insert the THERMALEXPANSIONORIGIN command into the Edit window, click OK. To cancel your changes and close the dialog box, click Cancel.

If you want to set the thermal expansion origin at a location other than the machine origin, then you must insert the thermal expansion origin command above the temperature compensation command or above the advanced temperature compensation command.
