uEye Camera Installation

For additional details, refer to the factory's setup documentation and the uEye manual that the uEye software installs.

To install the camera software and configure the hardware, do the following:

  1. Install the IDS uEye camera software.

  2. Confirm that the network adaptor used for each uEye camera has a status of working properly in the Device Manager.

  3. Confirm that each camera's Ethernet cables are connected to the PC and the cameras have power.

  4. Run the IDS Camera Manager.

  5. Select the ETH Network Service.

  6. Select the Ethernet network device used for the cameras.

  7. Specify an IP address that will not interfere with other networks or network devices. For example, if the local LAN uses 192.168.1.x, or the motion controller uses 100.0.0.x, you cannot use these addresses for the camera.

  8. Select Automatic ETH configuration.

  9. Verify that the Camera List shows the camera's status as Free: Yes and Avail: Yes.

  10. Set the camera ID for each camera by selecting the camera in the Camera List and then selecting Camera Information. The camera IDs should start with 1 and be sequential. On a system with two cameras, one ID must be 1, and one ID must be 2.

  11. Run uEye Cockpit to test the camera. For details, see the "IDS uEye Camera" topic.

  12. Copy the factory-specified camera parameter file or files. For naming and location, see the "Interface-Specific Options".

If you need to create a custom configuration file, configure the camera as desired in uEye Cockpit, and save the parameters to a file (File | Save Parameters | File). For a single 5240 camera, name the file Camera_5240_1.ini. The name of the file must start with Camera_ and end in "_n", where "n" is the total number of cameras on the system (such as Camera_5240_default_2.ini and Camera_5240_bright_1.ini).

  1. Run PC-DMIS as an Administrator.

  2. Close PC-DMIS.

  3. Configure the PC-DMIS frame grabber and camera settings. See the "Interface-Specific Options" and "Latching" sections for more details.

  4. Run PC-DMIS.

  5. Confirm the live image view is working.
