Working with PC-DMIS Blade

PC-DMIS Blade is an analysis software that analyzes airfoil measurement data and generates airfoil characteristics, plots, and reports. The software gets measured data from measuring instrument. You can use a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), White Light Sensors or other specialized equipment to measure blades.

To measure a blade with PC-DMIS Blade, follow these steps:

  1. Select an appropriate measuring machine. Blade stores the results of a measurement in a Report (.rpt) file.

  2. The results of a measurement are recorded in a Report file (.rpt).

PC-DMIS automatically creates a report file when you execute a measurement routine with a Blade measurement command. For more information on Report file, see "Report File".

  1. Perform your airfoil analysis. To do this, PC-DMIS Blade needs information about nominal geometry, specification of characteristics to evaluate and tolerances for characteristics. To store the information for Blade analysis, you need to create these files:

You can have more support files based on the type of analysis you select.

  1. PC-DMIS Blade follows a convention to store and name all support files. You must store all support files for each blade in a single folder.

By default, PC-DMIS Blade creates a BLADE folder in this location:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Hexagon\BLADE

You must create a sub-folder within the BLADE folder for each blade. The name of the sub-folder and the filenames within the sub-folder must have the same names. The files within the sub-folder will have the appropriate extensions.

For example, suppose you created a "DEMO" folder. You need to name all the files such as DEMO.FLV, DEMO.MTH, DEMO.NOM, and so forth.
