Adding and Removing Add-ons

Add-ons are components that can customize and extend Inspect to fit your needs.

There are various available add-on types. You can find explanations of these add-ons in the "The Add-ons Screen" topic.

Adding Add-ons

  1. Run Inspect as an administrator.

  2. From the left sidebar, click Add-ons to access the Add-ons screen.

  3. From the Add-ons screen, click Available () to show the available add-ons. You can also use the filter box () at the top to locate specific add-ons.

  4. For each add-on you want to add, click Install. The text changes to show Install Pending.

  5. Once you select all the add-ons you want to install, click on one of the Restart and Apply links. This restarts Inspect and adds the selected add-ons. Once Inspect restarts, you can use the installed add-ons.

To install all available add-ons, at the bottom of the screen, you can click the Install All link, and then click Restart and Apply.

An add-on with a key icon (Key icon) indicates you must purchase a license to use that add-on.

 

Removing Add-ons

  1. Run Inspect as an administrator.

  2. From the left sidebar, click Add-ons to access the Add-ons screen.

  3. From the Add-ons screen, click Installed () to show only the installed add-ons. You can also use the filter box at the top () to locate specific add-ons.

  4. For each add-on you want to remove, click the Uninstall link. The text changes to show Uninstall Pending.

  5. Once you have all the add-ons selected for removal, click on one of the Restart and Apply links. This restarts Inspect and removes the selected add-ons.

To remove all the installed add-ons, at the bottom of the screen, you can click the Uninstall All link, and then click Restart and Apply.

Updating Add-ons

  1. Run Inspect as an administrator.

  2. From the Add-ons screen, if the Updates filter at the top has a red number, it means there are updates to one or more add-ons that you can install.

  3. Click Updates () to show only the add-ons that need a software update. You can also use the filter box at the top () to locate specific add-ons.

  4. For each add-on you want to update, click Update. The text changes to show Update Pending.

  5. Once you have all the add-ons selected for update, click on one of the Restart and Apply links. This restarts Inspect and updates the selected add-ons.

To update all modified add-ons, at the bottom of the screen, you can click the Update All link, and then click Restart and Apply.

Inspect also tries to keep your add-ons updated without a lot of intervention. Whenever you run Inspect, it checks if there are any updates to your installed add-ons. If it finds any, a message box asks if you want to install the updates and restart inspect.
