- Journal File
A raw measurement data file that is created when a CNC program is run on a machine tool. These files can have the file endings .CNA, .CNP, or .CNJ
.CNA - This is the file ending for a journal file that has arrived from the machine but has not yet been processed.
.CNJ - This is the file ending for a journal file that has been processed successfully by NC Server and PC-DMIS.
.CNP - This is the file ending for a journal file that failed to process in NC Server and PC-DMIS due to some error in the file.

This term is jargon for a "post-processed program file".
