Calibration Sphere Position
When you use a calibration sphere to calibrate a probe, you must mount the calibration sphere as described below when possible. These are considered the ideal locations for the calibration sphere for probe calibration.
5-Axis Vertical Machining Center
Calibration sphere position for 5-axis machining center: Place the calibration sphere far away in the X+ and Y+ direction with the A or B axis at 0°.
Horizontal Machining Center
Calibration sphere position for horizontal machining center: Place the calibration sphere 90° horizontally (so that the calibration sphere faces in the Z+ direction) with a fixture and far away in the Y+ and Z+ direction in the vicinity of X = 0 with the B axis at 0°. Keep it away especially in the Y+ direction to prevent interference between the head and the table.
